Scratchboard Etching 2021-present

A new chapter in my life began with my move to Cary, NC. I'm enchanted by this established town that embraces its history while working with growth. Scratchboard is a subtractive process: clayboard layered with black India ink, then etched by hand to reveal light through line. This technique allows me to focus on the lines, patterns and atmosphere hidden within ordinary scenes. My work embraces a quiet contrast—moody yet welcoming—revealing the warmth beneath everyday spaces. Through etched light these places emerge as both timeless and intimate, inviting viewers to recognize their own stories within the familiar.

 

Nature's Natives®   1986-2021

Nature's Natives® are my cartoon characters of atoms and molecules. Nature’s Natives® represent Earth's invisible world and show connections under the umbrella of ‘How Earth works and why we care’. These atoms and molecules tell their stories in my animations, books, exhibits and presentations. 

 

Presentations  

2007-2021     I have shared Nature's Natives® in over 150 presentations educating thousands of children throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties in FL, including Public Library Systems, elementary schools, the Miami Children's Museum and the Girl Scouts.

Wire and Fiber Sculpture   1978-1987

In the late 1970's my sculptures included macrame, weaving, crochet and wrapped fibers onto my hand-formed oxy-acetylene welded wire shaped original frame designs.

 

Exhibitions 1978-1987   Twenty local exhibitions include Beaux Arts Festival, Coral Gables, FL (1983), the Arts Center of Kendall, Kendall, FL (1987), local art festivals including Miracle Mile Art Show, Coral Gables, FL (1983) and local libraries 1979-1982, 1984.
